Research firm IDC reports that the worldwide mobile phone market grew 1.9% year over year in Q4 2012, boosted by strong holiday smartphone sales. IDC also reports that the high-growth smartphone market, was dominated by Samsung and Apple.
Gartner reports that although worldwide sales of mobile phones declined by 3.1 percent compared with the third quarter of 2011, smartphone sales actually increased 46.9 percent over the same period. The smartphone market was dominated by Apple and Samsung.
The latest market research from Gartner shows that the proportion of smartphones sold in 2011, as a proportion of all mobile device sales, increased by 58% compared with 2010.
According to the latest research from International Data Corporation (IDC), the global cell phone market grew 6.1% year over year in Q4 of 2011, but the feature phone market declined faster than anticipated.
